I was introduced to Square Dancing by my parents. My father was also a caller calling in
many areas. In his later years he spent much of his time in Yuma Arizona, where he continued to
call and built the Yuma Square Dance Center.
I was asked to become the club caller for Circle N Square in my home town of Yreka Ca. in
1997. With the unexpected death of friend and caller Tony Nevison two years later, I was asked to
begin calling for the Dudes & Daisies club in Mt. Shasta. I presently call for both of these clubs
which have a combined existence of over 100 years. I am honored to be their club caller.
I also had the opportunity to conduct classes and workshops in Anderson for the Prairie
Squares during 2002 & 2003 which consisted of basic thru A-2. During that time I submitted my
name to a list of potential callers, and later became their temporary club caller. All of the clubs
and dancers have helped and supported me as I continue to learn this thing called "calling". I
understand it is a tedious process, and appreciate the dancers. (the most important thing all new
callers need.) Without them I could not practice and perfect my calling skills.
I met my wife Sherrie (my rock!) at a square dance when we were teens. She was also
introduced to square dancing by her parents. They helped form the Dudes & Daisies of Mt. Shasta
and were charter members. She and I have been involved in square dancing most of our lives. We
believe that square dancing is "in our blood". Sherrie's true love is Round dancing. While I love
calling, Sherrie and I like taking "road trips" where we have the opportunity to dance together. We
both enjoy Square and Round dancing, it gives us the chance to get in a square, dance with
friends, hear other callers, dance to "National Callers" and meet new people.
I am a member of Callerlab. As a member, I am BMI/ASCAP licensed. I have attended caller
clinics conducted by: Daryl Clendenin, Jerry Junck, Bill Helms Doug Davis, Bill Keys and
Nasser Shukayr I would like the opportunity to call for your club event, festival, private party,
